Navigation & Audio Alpine Head Unit Installation - Questions
I am about to do the final mod to my system, the head unit. I currently have the OEM head pushing lineouts to a Hifonics Tarus 4x50 through Focal 130H's in the front and Focal 690CA's in the rear. An Alpine S634 changer plays the MP3s I am probably going to go Alpine CDA-7894 or 7995. Any comments? The amp is already in so I don't need the power. Are there size/performance/control advantages to the non-amped heads?
I just ordered the Metra 70-9003 harness, the Pac SWI-X Interface and the Metra 40-EU 10 Antenna Adapter. Question - is the existing small white plug compatible with the aftermarket head or will I need an adapter for it too?
Also, will the head unit directly control the S634 changer or will I need to keep the Blitzsafe adapter (with RCA inputs)(don't use them but figured I might).
Will the aftermarket head allow me to read the MP3 title information off of the S634?
TIA

What small white plug are you refering to?
And as for "will this control that"....call Alpine customer service and ask them if there are any known incompatibilities with the two....one other thing to consider is that the PAC SWI-X will only work with infrared remotes that use the common 38-40kHz carrier frequency, so make sure the Alpine headunit you get uses this frequency.
