MP3 skipping
After the dvd player runs for a while (hour or so), it starts skipping on mp3 tracks. This is a new 05 MCSC. I don't know if it skips on regular cds too - I have not tried. Is this a general problem or something specific to my unit?
my 03's cd player will skip while driving over a big bump. i just got a
6CD changer and also a MP3 player so haven't taken it back for
warranty replacement... actually i forgot to ask them about it when
i visited the dealer last month as I rarely use it anyway.
ps, mine is a non-nav

so that i can re-read what it skipped and do error correction.
MP3 "skip," 2005 MINI CD Player problem
It's June 2007. The CD player in my '05 now "skips" when playing MP3's from CD, not when it's turned on, only after it's been playing for a while. It doesn't "skip" on regular CDs. This 2-year-old short stale thread was all I found when I searched the site, so the problem must not be very widespread. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix?
Well, since MP3 discs are burned by individuals, rather than being factory-pressed, that introduces a lot of variables. I would try:
1) Playing a disc that someone else has burned using a different computer.
2) Switching to a different brand of blank CD - many CD burners and players have problems with particular brands of disc.
3) Try burning a CD at a lower speed. Just for experimentation's sake, try burning a disc at 1X, regardless of what the maximum burn speed of your drive is.
4) If you're using CD-RW discs, try burning a few CD-Rs instead. Although most players that will play CD-Rs will also play CD-RWs, CD-RWs are a little more of a challenge, especially once the laser pickup starts to age.
