I'm considering getting a MyFi but my plan is to be able to move it between home/car/work while using different cars (including the Mini ) to get to work. I don't want to buy any additional accessories unless necessary. So how is sound quality/reception in the car when using just the built in antenna and wireless fm transmitter?

 

I got my own MyFi a few weeks back and love it, though it does have some shortcomings. In my area, I can use it in my house with just the built in antenna and everything is fine with reception. But when u have it in the MINI, Its not so good and dropouts are frequent. A portable external antenna is provided in the kit and comes with a suctino cup mount.
I have had success with this stuck to the sunroof.
As for the FM transmitter, I love it. It works amazingly well. Once you find a open channel, the audio is clear and I haven't any problems with it drifting out of tune like I have had with other FM Xmttrs. I can move in around in the car, habdle it to change channels without problem.

I am going to install the mount and magnetic antenna when I get my Roundtoit. But for now, I can live with this setup.

But for best reception, you have to use the magnetic antenna, routed through the hatch to the back part of the roof.
