I have searched on the forums, or at least when i did i could not find any information. But i have my 05 MCS on order and should be here in June. I just found out tha the 05 now have t HU that can play MP3's if thats the case that makes me more happy with my purchase. My question is, if i decide to replace the head unit on the mini, do i have to rewire the speakers? Crutchfield says that you will have to rewire the speakers to have an aftermarket HU work. If i go and replace the speakers, do i have to do the same?

The 05 head unit plays mp3s!

Crutchfield got it half right...swapping out the head unit from the optional Harmon Kardon system does involve rewiring. Goto www.gbmini.com to see what Ian did. Changing head unit on the standard system is much easier, although there are interface issues if you have the multi funtion steering wheel.
