Replacing a Double Din head unit in an R56/7 with an existing Double Din Conv

Hi ! I am going to help a friend on his Mini. He has an R57 with a Double Din head unit already installed ( I believe it was a Crutchfield Metra kit with a Kenwood Double Din ). He wants to replace the Double Din unit with another Double Din unit. Silly question - but do you have to remove all the dash stuff like you do when converting to a double din unit or can the existing double din unit be pulled out with clips. It already has all the wiring done - in hopes that it is long enough so that it can be pulled out LOL

TIA

You'll probably have to remove all the dash stuff again. You can't remove the front console panel without taking off the speedometer cluster trim. Be sure to have a free hour for everything. GL!

Steps to take:
1) tach;
2) 2 inserts (or just one if you have a secret glove box compartment);
3) speedo trim;
4) lower driver knee trim panel;
5) left and right center console trim panels;
6) cup holders and 12v socket panel
