MINI + Android + Spotify = disaster!

Hi, so for anyone that has an Android phone and a 3rd Gen MINI, in particular a 2019 or newer one, have you noticed you stopped having the Spotify app appear in your car?
Have you switched to the new mini app?
Has it not disappeared for you?
What phone are you using?

Hey Eggos! I'm running Android 10 on a Nokia 7.1. Installing the newer MINI app automatically deleted the older app (not good for a lot of folks). I have an LCI 2019 F55 S, after much back & forth communications with MINI, The app is finally able to recognize my VIN, but pretty much a 100% useless app. Never used Spotify in the car. I did lose the ability to view SMS messages on the dash. I don't know if that's an option package or if they just did away with it all together. I had it on my '17 F55.

What ticks me is the lack of transparency from MINI on anything MINI Connected. They do not tell you anywhere what components, accessories, options, features, are needed in the vehicle to get any of this to work. E.g., do I need the Navigation option, does it need to be Touch Screen, do I need an alarm option? To me they really Mickey Mouse'd this portion of the MINI experience.

So I've adopted a mind change, some of the highest end premium performance sport cars don't come with radios at all because they want you to concentrate on and enjoy the performance of the car. So I've started to think all this connectivity is ***** and embrace my wanna' be performance sports car. 🤣
