IBUS / CD53 R50 control
I'm trying to hack together a "simple" raspberry pi / bluetooth interface for my 2005 MINI. I have bluetooth streaming working, but cannot figure out how to change the text on the radio.
I'm using the Resler USB IBUS interface, and am able to emulate a CD changer. I cannot figure out what commands to send over the IBUS to get the radio to display custom text.
Is this even possible? I'm currently trying this with a 2002 stereo I bought off the net, I'm assuming my MINI has a 2005 stereo - they look identical, but perhaps could be different (firmware).
Thanks!

I doubt you can do that unless you hack into the HU and even that is remotely possible. It does not even support CD Text. I got rid of the Boost HU so fast back in 2005 and put in a Sony Minidisc HU and with MD changer, with excellent album, artist, track title etc. Today, Minidisc is obsolete and even more so is CD. Mobile device steaming is automotive audio, and I would save my time just install a modern HU with bluetooth and handsfree support.

I'm pretty sure this is possible - after a bit of research the radio supports the ULF phone unit, and will display custom text from that (phone numbers, etc...).
However, I'm having a hard time finding the appropriate IBUS commands to command it into phone mode. I'm going to plug away at this - I really like the look of the stock HU. Everything I've seen on the internet is pretty ugly, though something Retro-inspired might make me change my mind. Or a Single-DIN LCD-only. I don't want a pop-out unit, and I've never seen a simple flat panel radio the size of a single-din.
