Stock navigation replacement/upgrade

Hello all, does anyone know of viable options for replacing the stock navigation screen in a 2006 Cooper S convertible? Can I just buy one of the double din options on
Amazon Amazon
or does the stock navigation have some proprietary setup that prevents you from easily replacing it?

For reference, my primary goal is to have a place to put a backup camera screen in that spot. The other functions don't need to be super fancy because there's an aftermarket Kenwood head unit already installed.

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

What I currently have.

Going to move this to the Nav/Audio section.

i;ve been looking at this company's option... they have a new product that allows you to basically get apple carplay going through the stock nav. sounds like you can also add up to 4 additional video inputs - one of which could be used for a backup camera.

Cool thanks for the link. Looks like there's hope! Keeping the same screen and patching a rear view camera using this type of video interface might be just what I'm looking for.

Anybody else have experience with this type of setup?

After some more research, I found this harness that looks promising. Nice price too! Anybody have experience with using this to connect a backup cam?

And now I discover there's a second piece to buy that's required to make it work. That's another $134.99:

Still not too bad if the solution works. I may give it a try.
