HK amp / Speakers cut in/out frequently / Smoking subwoofer

All,
I am experiencing an odd behavior with my HK Sound System and I do believe it's the amp. I am not an electrical pro (no electrician at all), so I am able to describe a brief behavior only.
I have a 2010 MCS JCW Convertible. It all started a few weeks ago when I unlocked the car and there was a frequent "blopp" noise coming out of the driver's side subwoofer for at least 5 minutes.
The distance between these noises is frequent at around 8 seconds each, which means "blopp" <8 seconds pause>, "blopp" <8 seconds pause> "blopp" and so on for at least 5 minutes, but it may increase to up to 20 minutes- after that, everything is working fine. When the "blopp" happens, all speakers shut down, which - to me - suspects the amp being the bad guy. However, I got heavily scared today as it seems to get worse - I encountered smoke coming out of the driver's side subwoofer and it smelled for burned electronics. Could it be this particular subwoofer only, causing a failure circuit?
Any advice is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
meb

There have been multiple posts on the HK amp going south, not sure which years. Sorry I can't offer any info on your circumstance. just thought you might look into a search of HK amp failure and it may bring up some answers. Hope you get it straightened out.

Thanks, I already read almost every thread that is somehow related to an amp failure. I'll deal with it later (I am more into listening to the exhaust popping anyways, so no hurry hehe).
I am just worried about that smokey thing in the rear now and was wondering if anybody with any electrical background knowledge would know, if pulling the fuse might prevent my car from burning down.
