Iphone 6 with iOS 8

Anyone else having trouble playing this through their USB? I'd like to use the USB and have the song titles and all that come up from the phone. My friend did it with his Galaxy s5, so I know it works. Just not with iPhones?

Mine works fine. What are you using to connect the phone?

Using authentic Apple lightning cable. I plug it into the USB port and music just plays out of phone. My phone asks me if I trust car each time and I hit "trust". My phone is connected via Bluetooth and does calls fine.

Screen says "The connected USB device is not supported". Any settings on either the phone or car that I need to adjust?

If you are using an Apple phone on a 2nd gen MINI, you need to have the MINI Y-cable. A straight Lightning cable will result in, at best, having the song info show, but no audio.

Android phones will work because the car reads them as a storage device, like a USB thumb drive, but will only play music on the SD card. iDevices plug in using the MTP protocol which, with MINIs anyway, require the use of a special cable.

There are apps that let the Iphone act as a USB storage device. Never used them but they do exist, might be a solution.

I've got the same issues with my 2012 S not recognizing my iPhone 5S connected with an OEM 30 pin with an adapter that connects both the dock & the headphone jack. It charges but only works as an auxiliary device with no steering wheel controls or track display.
