Force headunit into AUX mode?

'05 R52S with H/K, no nav. I bought a Bluetooth kit that plugs into the AUX input (
Amazon.com: SoundBot SB360 Bluetooth 4.0 Car Kit Hands-Free Wireless Talking & Music Streaming Dongle w/ 10W Dual Port 2.1A USB Charger + Magnetic Mounts + Built-in 3.5mm Aux Cable: Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: SoundBot SB360 Bluetooth 4.0 Car Kit Hands-Free Wireless Talking & Music Streaming Dongle w/ 10W Dual Port 2.1A USB Charger + Magnetic Mounts + Built-in 3.5mm Aux Cable: Cell Phones & Accessories
) mostly to stream music from my iPhone. The problem is, the headunit won't switch to AUX when it is plugged in. It has always not switched without a source plugged in, but in this case it won't do it at all, even when I'm actively streaming music or a call from my phone. I have verified the Bluetooth unit works in my other cars.

Is there any way to force the headunit into AUX mode? Any other thoughts on how to solve?

Thanks in advance.

Same issue

I'm trying to do exactly the same thing and having exactly the same issue, although my head unit has never gone into AUX mode ever even with a source plugged into the jack and playing music.

I have a 2008 Cabrio S with HK and no navigation. The car has the factory iPod integration and the factory AUX port.

The dealer told me you cannot have both functional at the same time so I completely removed the iPod kit last night and unplugged the CD changer plug from the back of the head unit but no matter what I do the AUX port will not work.

I was thinking of trying to splice the AUX port wires into the CD changer inputs but can't find a pin out.

Any other suggestions? AUX port has never registered

I did some more research on BMW forums and apparently if the device is charging from the car it can create a ground loop and the headunit won't go into AUX to protect itself. I used to have the same problem intermittently on an X3 I owned when using an iPod charging cradle, but I never figured it out. Ordered a Ground Loop Isolator from Amazon that will come tomorrow, hoping that solves the issue. I'll update after I try it. A lot of hassle just to not have to take my phone out of my pocket. If the mic is good enough that I can talk with the top down it will be worth it though.

Don't know if your phone has been plugged in and charging when you try, but you might try it without and see if that works.
