CD changer with HK

I've read that the alpine s634 will work with the HK but on sites that sell it the disclaimer is that it doesn't with DSP. I believe the HK has that so who's right? Plus, what other cd changers have been installed? I read sony, etc. but I don't know exactly where to purchase them at. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks..

CD changer??? WHY??

I hate to poop on your parade buy you want a CD changer? CD has now gone the way of the 8-track and casette! Get an Ipod with the new adapter, Get Sirius radio, get a radio that plays MP3 & DVD audio. The CD is dying as is evident from their recent price drop. Several stores (Circit city/ best buy...) have sigifintaly cut back on their cd changer lines and plan to drop them all together by years end. There are so many technologies that offer a better music experience in the car than a 6 pr 10 disk cd changer. Its also a good way to ruin you cds.

I run sat radio everywhere I go and I want to get an Ipod soon also.

I am not flogging you here so please dont think that. Most people dont know that the CD is commig to an end. I'd say its pulled from stores within 3-4 years in favor of online music services and DVD-A for the music afficanato.

O'yea all this change is great for us consumers. It gives us what we want, when we want it and where ever we go. I love this stuff!

why not!!

No offense to IPOD owners but it's too expensive for what it is and I don't need the portibility nor do I need to store 10,000 songs on one device. I've listened to MP3s for several years and as long as the changer can play them that's all I am looking for. Oh, and I don't play originals so that's not issue as far as wearing out CDs. (Yes, DVDs are the latest but even those will be gone in a couple of years)

Oh, I forgot to address sat radio...I don't want to pay a subscription and prefer to control the content.

So, back to my question..

Trade Off

I feel that a head unit that plays MP3's off a CD-R is the real answer. And the 2005's will have that. I would bet that some people will replace the head Unit on the 2005's in order to get features that they desire. I would hold out and buy a 2005 HU from someone who is "upgrading." You know it will work in the Mini and it will have the controls for DSP - I am told that there is only one head unit used - it is the same in the regular or HK system. Probably will be the cheapest and neatest option to get what you want, with no need to insure aftermarket stuff. You might sell your old head unit to someone needing a replacement and really cut the cost down.

Good solution..I like that. Now, can I hold off that many months until someone sells their head unit.

CD Changer

After reading the above, many of you are probably dejected and depressed knowing that your CD Changer will all too soon go the way of eight track tapes and the Betamax. I feel your pain and have a proposition that may take the sting out of this inevitable march to obsolesence.

Before you abandon your Changer in a basket on someone's porch, please note that I will provide a good home to one working MINI CD Changer, provided it is of good character and comes with references, (must never have been used for Rap or Polka).

So as you prepare to run out and buy an ipod, please contact me regarding the unloading of your terminally un-hip CD Changer.

Yes, I am still in the market for a used MINI CD Changer. Call me olde fashion, Daddy-O!

Okay, I saw a mini ipod today and it looks good. I might have to breakdown and buy one. Is that ipod docking thing available yet?
