Bluetooth where CD Changer went?
Still looking through old threads, but not seeing what I need yet... 2006 S had a Blitz Safe box and an XM sat radio tuner mounted in the rear where the CD Changer would have been. Not subscribing to XM but wanting a Bluetooth connection to stream music only I bought an adapter than only has power wires and line-level audio out (MIL-BTREC unit, ~$40), thinking I would use the Blitz Safe box to send the audio to the stock non-H/K radio (and ditch the XM tuner). However, the only 12V power I find on the two connectors in that rear compartment is not switched. I don't want to kill the battery by running a Bluetooth transceiver constantly even when the car sits for a week or two unused. Any suggestions? I can reluctantly run a power wire back there, I suppose, but I was hoping that some nearby wire would be hot 12V only when the radio is on or accessory or ignition is on.
If you have a power point in the left rear, you should be able to tap that. I know my 2004 does. I think they stopped installing them for a bit in 2003, but I think the facelift cars have them.
Bluetooth streaming
Thanks, did that, soldered a pair to the cigarette lighter outlet wires on the left and ran them under/behind the trim to the right to power the Bluetooth transceiver. Works well. Only complaint I have is that the output from the MIL-BTREC is a little weak, necessitating cranking the volume on the head unit.
