guys need some help on my sterio please help
I just got my 04 mini cooper leased yesterday and the dealer had told me that the cd player would play MP3's too but I have tried to put many discs with MP3's but it would not read it what should I do????? Would I be able to go back and a new one or did the Dealer lie to me??? Please let me know what I can do thanks
I was under the impression that the MP3 player head unit was going to start with the 2005 model, which has not arrived in showrooms yet. I suppose that if you were promised this capability as part of the sales contract, the dealer could possibly swap out one of the new units when they arrive if they find a non-computer using buyer for a 2005, or order a new head unit. Either way, you should not see it for months.
The dealer may give you the runaround, saying he meant you could use an MP3 player if you bought the AUX connector, but if you payed MSRP or higher for that puppy, it ought to do what he promised.

As far as I know the in dash CD player cannot play MP3 discs directly yet. You will need an aux input adapter installed and use that as a port to connect an MP3 player such as an ipod or similar device that stores MP3 recordings.
Then you turn on your in dash unit and set it to auxillary and turn on the MP3 player and select a song and it should play through your stereo.
This should hold for 2004 MINIs. If your sales person promises something like that he can demonstrate that it indeed works by using any MINI in stock and playing your MP3 disc. Otherwise get them to replace the current head unit with the 2005 version.
Good luck.
