One Last iPod Question

Before taking the plunge into purchasing an iPod I am doing some research into a number of details that will maximize my use of this piece of equipment. So far I have found answers to about 99% of my questions and one last one remains.

Can I download music from my CD collection onto the iPod. Not CD's that I have made but CD's I have purchased over the years. Or is my existing CD collection obsolete?

Sure, you just have to download iTunes for free from Apple and import all your CDs. It then will update your ipod when you have it connected. This works for Microsoft and Mac users. I've got 2,003 songs on mine and only 157 of those I downloaded from iTunes music store.
Go to the website and check it out:http://www.apple.com/itunes/

They are only obsolete after you load them on to your ipod.
Seriously, yes you can.

Certainly you can!! That's the beauty of iTunes! You can Rip your old CDs into your iTunes collection. Burn your own CD's from your iTunes collection. And Download all your MP3s from your iTunes collection into your iPod! Basically, the iPod becomes a portable version of your iTunes application. I've got quite a few of my store bought CD's in my iTunes, right along with songs downloaded from the Apple Music Store (accessed through iTunes) and some downloaded not so legally.

hmmm, not sure if I should be posting this, it may get someone in alot of trouble. If so, please moderate appropriately. But, www.allofmp3.com is the best website I've found for downloading music. 100MB of high quality MP3s for $1. (yes, that's right, not a typo)

ipod works!

I just drove my new S across the country with an ipod. 1000 tunes on random shuffle and 4000 miles. It's a great way to break in the baby!

Also, with a little more work you can transfer your tape and vinyl recordings into iTunes and therefore into the iPod. You just need some recording software (lots of shareware available...I use CD Wave Editor) to digitize your analog recordings, and then you can import them into iTunes. Of the 4,000 songs on my iPod so far, about 85% are from my CD collection, 10% are from my old cassette tape collection, and 5% downloaded from the Internet.
