Navigation & Audio I feel the need to rant..maybe someone can enlighten me.

Ok so after 12 years, my trusty Eclipse head unit has passed on. I need to replace it. I want something that is Sirius ready, and does not have one of those damned motorized face plates. I have been looking at head units for the past 4 days and about to go freakin nuts. Why is it that all manufacturers feel that every damn head unit has to have more damn flashing lights and useless toys than actual audio performance. I don't care if it has 50w per channel built in! I've for an old school Fosgate Power 1000 to power my speakers. I want it to store a gizallion MP3's. I want it to be so simple to operate my wife can take the car and not spend 20 min in the driveway trying to figure out how to make it play a CD. I don't want or need a 6.5 in screen to show me what radio station I am listening to.
I'm sorry gang...just a little frustrated. I am open however to any and all suggestions. Price really isn't an object at this point. I just want it to do what I want.
Thanks!!!!

Actually this is simple, Clarion DXZ745MP or DXZ645MP. I like the 745 because it has a pair of 24-bit D/As. The 645 uses unspecified D/As and no motor on the face for CD loading. Both are Sirius ready.
Kenwood offers a mid-range unit that is better than most (including more expensive Kenwoods), the KDC-X679. Dual 24-bit B-B D/As are primo. Thankfully, Kenwood abandoned their flip-face and this is one of the new "normal" models. Sirius Ready, of course.
There are a number of external satellite players. You could go back to Eclipse. There are plenty of simple units out there just don't shop in the stores because they're all pushing the bling.

I agree whole heartily with this! I refuse to buy aftermarket because all the manufactures insist on adding a thousand blinking lights and a million buttons that a big hand like mine can't push. And don't even think about wearing gloves...
I feel better now.
Sorry no enlightenment here... I do feel your pain though.
