AUX failed after six months. NOT ground loop.
All:
I installed the genuine Mini Aux kit in my 2005 MCS with H/K, and it worked perfectly for six months. On an 1100-mile cross-country drive last week, the Aux started being intermittent. I could listen for a while, then the radio would select FM, and I'd have to go back and reselect AUX. After a while, AUX would only show up sporadically, and now, for a week, I haven't been able to select AUX at all.
At first, I thought it was the cable itself (there is a bulge halfway down the cable that looks like it might be a minimal gang of inline electronic parts which could have broken), and went to a local Mini dealer and bought a second AUX kit, and replaced the original. Same behavior. No AUX at all.
Finally, after some searching, I found some folks had the same issue and fixed it with a ground loop isolator placed at the input of the aux kit. I purchased the same, and still no joy.
So, have any of you had this dead-AUX issue? I am currently streaming music A2DP through a Moto 505 BT unit which rebroadcasts to the radio on low frequency bands, but the quality is thin and the interference is annoying. Would love to play through a wire.
Any thoughts?
