Navigation & Audio Mini Roof Antenna
Mini Roof Antenna
We have owned several Minis (the latest is a 2013 S Paceman) and they all have a "rod" roof antenna in addition to the usual "shark fin" that most cars have. Does anyone know why Mini uses the rod antenna? Most cars now just have a shark fin on the roof and don't need the rod antenna. I think the shark fin is for satellite radio (I have satellite on my Paceman); maybe other cars put the standard AM/FM antenna in the windows.

I've seen it posted here that the long antennae is basically for AM reception. The shark fin is the business end, but I haven't put it to the test.
FWIW - I like the radio control look for the toy it is.
