Radio controls on steering wheel problem

While in the process of blacking out my interior I managed to screw something up.

I took the controls off the steering wheel, taped off the contacts/board, spray painted, and then reassembled. Now all controls work EXCEPT the volume UP button. I completely took each circuit board out and reinserted the wires but got nothing. I don't see any damage or overspray anywhere where it would matter.

I have an 02 mcs non h/k, 2 spoke wheel, with nav.

Thanks for any input.

You may have damaged the little black pad that makes the connection when the button is depressed.

No, is that similar to carb cleaner? Would carb cleaner work?

No....
Get a can of plastic safe contact cleaner....very useful to have around....
The glue from the tape might have left residue...causing your issue....or maybe a few specs of aerosolized paint flying around the switch ....
