Wiring a self-powered sub in the Clubman
I'm having a removable self-powered bass tube installed in the back of my new '13 Clubman S with the base sound system. Just wanted to confirm a couple things before the install starts - not trying to get in a big debate with the guy from Integral about crossovers and curves and amplifier engineering - seems like most of these threads get way too dramatic really quickly.
Just wanted to confirm where you'd want to grab the audio signal from - from what I've read, the back speakers are a no-go because of the low-hz cutoff built into their signal. Where is that crossover actually located in the wiring of the system? Is it something that can be bypassed, or is it rolled-off coming out of the head unit?
So does that mean you would just grab the signal from a front speaker, or is there a better place on the base sound system? Also, do most people tend to steal power for the sub from the 12V aux power already in the trunk?
Thanks for all your help in advance - I've loved the car so far and will be sure to post some photos soon.
