Interesting. While dialing in the amp, it shut down. It got pretty warm, but the cover want on it. However, I was idling the whole time. Think the exhaust can transfer enough heat into the trunk to affect the amp? I drove home 45 min with it bumping and cranked, but after 20 min idling at low volumes it shut down. I don't think even a couple fans will help that, the cover was off the whole time.

About the exhaust transfering heat into the car I doubt it but anything is possible... I would play it at the volumes you will constantly listen it at and make sure the voltage stays up, to me it seems like its not getting the current it needs IIRC these amps were a bit power hungry... also make sure you are wired at the right impedance for your application.

Yeah, subs are single 4 wired down to 2, amp is 1 ohm stable. Subs were turned all the way down when I was testing, I was playing with the front stage. Amp was pretty warm, but I could put my hand on it.

Computer fans run on 12 volts, I wonder what the pc liquid cooling systems run off ?

Also check your grounds... and try just the front stage and then swap to the sub channel to see if the problem persists.

4 gauge. I'm 90% sure I chose a good ground. The weird thing is the protection light didn't come on or anything, the music just stopped. Now that it has cooled down I will go play with it again for a bit.

I will report back after a few weeks, but I just got done doing some more tuning. I think I got it where I want it, I'm actually impressed with both the components and the subs. SQ is way better than stock, and those little 8's bump pretty dang good.

I just drove around with it louder than I should have for a good 20 minutes, no issues. Weird.

Hey Beau, great work! The checkerboard fabric is definitely unique, but I like it.

Love the Belle also. Definitely used to drool over those back in the day.

I know you used an LOC but the speaker lines are balanced. You can connect RCA leads directly to the speaker wires. We used a set of JL connectors. Anyway, your way will work as well, but it's just another point of possible interference.

Thanks for the tip, I did not know that. My LOC also provides my amp turn on lead though, so that's helpful. Mini is at the dealership right now, cylinder 3 miss fire.

Aw man, hate you're having an issue with your Mini. Hope it gets worked out quickly.

We used the remote lead from the other harness, but definitely makes sense why you would use the LOC. Navonne makes a very good product so that's not a problem.

Good luck with everything.

Nice nice nice....love the work and appreciate you sharing..I myself have done swaps and stereo upgrades so I know what kind of time effort blood sweat and frustration can go into a build not to mention working out all the bugs...well done...

Thanks guys. It's not all bad, I have this as a loaner.

It has the Hk system. If mine had that, I would have just added a sub. Front stage is decent. Also, I want hids now.

If anyone is in the Seattle area, I'm selling this setup. Eveything minus the LOC and the amp. So, subs/boxes/amp rack/breakout harness.

$400

If that leaves the sub boxes available, I'd be interested in the passenger's side ones, pending specs etc. I have a downfire box back there now but it's taking up 40% of the trunk!
