Navigation & Audio Satellite Radio and Blitzsafe question
Hey, I know there are a crapload of of these on here but I just wanna get one thing straight? I have and 8/02 MCS with the CD Changer. Is the Blitzsafe adapter essential for me to get XM?
yes and no.
there are 3 ways to get the audio to your radio: an FM modulator, cassette adapter, or aux input. The cassette adapter is by far the simplest, but if you have a cd player instead of tape then that is ruled out. The FM modulator is fairly standard, and works well, but the audio signal will generally not be as good as an aux input.
Having said that, if you want an aux input, then yes.... you need the blitzsafe (or similar) to create an aux input. Not sure if the MINI aux input kit works on '02 models or not, otherwise I'd count it....

There is one other option:
RF Modulator - wireless transmitter broadcasts to your FM receiver, about $29 bucks everywhere. As these methods go it's the worst sound quality.
An 08/02 model does not have the aux connector location on the back of the stock headunit.
I went with the FM mod and I'm very happy with it. It does however reduce the signal strength (or at least what is passed to the headunit) of the local radio stations on both the FM and AM band.
