Is it possible to run the Spotify App through the MINI connect system?

 

Ok so if anyone still hasn't figured this out, on my 2012 S with nav and connected, I start spotify on my iphone, play a playlist, plug in the phone while the car is running, go to connected, plugin, and start the plugin. The spotify music starts almost immediately, and then after a few moments the spotify screen shows up on the nav screen.. It works only for playlists, so I just pick one and shuffle through it, but it does display artwork and says spotify at the top. Looks pretty slick, all of my friends dig it.

Thank you for posting this. I just got a 2013 convertible. I do not have connected, but this sounds similar to the way the podcast app works. If I start the podcast and hook into the mini it seems to play, and it will also appear on the list menu item for the ipod, but I don't know how to hook into the Podcast app directly. I just upgraded to Spotify Premium last night ( 11/26/12) and I'm not sure how it will load the entire list from spotify, but I'm going to try it on the way home tonight.

Just got a used MINI, and it worked for me, and way better than expected after reading up on it! Plugged in through the the 30pin Y-cable, shows up as iPod, track titles seem to update with song, steering wheel controls even work, even the back button!! My car and phone are from around the same time so maybe that makes a difference, but perhaps there's hope!
