Clubman Subwoofer
Just finished my subwoofer project.
'11 Cooper Clubman w/ HK upgrade
Amp: Kicker ZX400.1
Sub: Polk MM1040DVC
Box: 3/4 MDF top with inset mount, 5/8" sides and bottom
The box was designed to fit in the spare tire well. I have run-flats and have not been carrying my spare tire so I decided to make better use of the space. As such, I decided to not spend time "finishing" the box since it would always be hidden.
I mounted the amp under the drivers seat. Plenty of room. I tapped into the wires at the x9331 connector. FYI: The wiring harness in my Clubman ran along the PASSENGER side, not the drivers side like my '07 Cooper S w/ HiFi. Had I known this ahead of time, I would have mounted the amp under the passenger seat and tapped into the wiring right next to it.
So far, it sounds great...I have it turned down VERY low to let the woofer break in and to let the glue cure!
If you have an amp that will auto-sense the signal and turn on (and therefore do not need a 12V signal line) I suggest putting the amp under the passenger seat and getting the wires from under the running board. (I have no idea what it is really called...the plastic that runs along the seat at the door) The wire colors were as follows:
FL+ Grey/Blue
FL- Grey/Brown
FR+ Blue/Grey
FR- Blue/Yellow
