SWI-JACK Problem

I installed a PAC SWI-JACK steering wheel control interface unit with a Kenwood KDC-X994 receiver. The SWI-JACk is version 1.6.20b (current version). I can only get it to work when I skip the programming for the Arrow Up and Arrow Down steering wheel buttons. I can program the SWI-JACK fine for + Button (Volume Up), - button (Volume Down), R/T Button (Source), and Phone Button (Answer Call).

Anyone use the SWI-JACK and get the Arrow Up/Down buttons programmed? Did you do anything special?
Anyone else have problems programming the Arrow Up and Arrow Down buttons? How did you resolve the problem?

I tried all kinds of variations for programming the buttons but every time I try to program the Arrow Up/Down buttons the programming does not complete correctly. At the end of programming/skipping of the 11 settings, I get 3 blinks to show programming complete but then the LED just blinks on and off instead of blinking 5 times for the version number (Mini Cooper). If I skip programming the Arrow Up/Down buttons everything works fine, I get the 3 blinks to show programming complete and 5 blinks for the version number.

I have the Radio Select Switch set to 3 for Kenwood. I am using Version 5 for the Mini Cooper. I am using the Yellow wire connected to the White/Red/Yellow Dot wire at the steering column (not at the receiver connector). I have the Blue/Yel wire connected to the Blue/Yel wire (remote control input of the Kenwood receiver. I have the black (ground) and Red (acc power) connected to the same power/gnd as the receiver. All other wires are not used. Looped wires were not cut (left looped back). All connections are soldered. I did wait the 15 seconds to start programming.

I contacted PAC Tech Support and they did not have any ideas other than to try separate power and ground connections. I have not tried that because it is a little bit of a pain and I suspect not the issue since other buttons do program fine. Tech Support said as a last resort they could work with me to troubleshoot by trying to add different resistances to the signal. I do not want to try that until a get some feedback from the NAM world.
