Navigation & Audio 2002 Headunit Question

What does the Blitzsafe adapter actually do?
Looking at the pinout for the headunit the wires for the CD changer are labeled CDC L+, CDC R+, and CDC L/R-, which make me think they are just line level inputs, but then what triggers the headunit to allow it to go into CD changer mode?

Also, noticed on the pinouts TV L+, R+, L/R-, NAV +/-, and Tel +/-, are these active in the '02 headunit?
