Interior chime malfunction

I've searched a few sites and have not had much luck figuring out what may be causing my interior chime to not work properly.

I have a 2010 MCS with the factory MINI alpine system and the factory bluetooth/ipod kit.

I first noticed it while driving the car after resetting the ECU. When the tire pressure indicator came on, instead of getting the normal pleasant chime, I got a loud bleep sound. I finished my test drive and when i shut down the car I got blasted by this loud bleep again.

Naturally i was confused by this and began to go through the differnt electronic functions with in the car. I found that when ever there was suppose to be a chime ( ignition on, service notifications, seat belt warning, ect. ) I now get this loud bleep.

I also found that if the radio volume is above zero or the bluetooth is being used this bleep occurs about every 30 sec. I can still hear the radio and volume works correctly. The bleep it self though seems to maintain the same volume regardless of volume above zero. I have not tried the ipod yet but i assume it is going to do the same thing.

I thought i would ask if any one has had or heard of this before I start pulling things apart to check it out.

Disconnect the battery for a minimum of 30 minutes and then wee what happens.

I have heard of this before on 2007 and 2008 cars but nothing newer. It is a malfunction that has been fixed by a full shutdown and reset of the computers in the car.

I was thinking the same thing. When it first happened I needed to be some where so all I did was reset the ECM via the OBD port. Since then I have yet to try unplugging the battery for a length of time. I'll give that a shot today since it has time to sit.

I also noticed the front speakers no longer work with the radio and only emit that annoying sound.

Any ways thanks for the info.
