That would be great except how do you plug it in to charge or listen to it over your radio?
I guess, if you aren't listening to it or if you have Bluetooth it could be a good spot for it

You run a USB cable and 3.5 mm audio jack extension cable from the center console to just behind the steering column. Then you can plug in the iPod adapter or connect directly to a droid .
You just need to remove the panel below the steering wheel and tie the cables to the car's wiring harnesses using some Ty-Raps. Your local stereo shop or even your mechanic should be able to help you for not too much money.

I used to have installed in the CD slot, but I was kind of in the way and when I'm running DashCommand it was hard to look at it and the road at the same time so I moved it to that location.

For me the location works great because:

1.) I've never had the need to charge my phone in the car (my commute isn't that long and except under extreme circumstances I only have to charge my phone at night)

2.) I've never used my phone as a music player (including streaming type services) - I have all my music loaded on a USB drive and installed in the USB port in the car.

3.) The only reason I look at my phone in the car is to monitor DashCommand and I don't always do that.

Most of the time it's in my pocket - I'm too busy hauling a$$

Cerenkov you're a genius! That is the perfect location. I also rarely charge in the car with my 30 minute commute and if I did I am sure I could get a cable up there no problem. I would have got the craven mount if it were a little more reasonably priced because it too is in the perfect spot to use the Torque app. I just ordered the amazon mount, its closer to $30.00 out the door (even though it was on sale for $17.75).
