Is there a newest version of the Nav software (not maps) that fixes the way the streets are displayed? It's ridiculous that all the labels are horizontal. While I am ok with that in an area I know, in a totally unknown it's useless. Which of course, is the time you really need it!

For the 2007 through 2010 models, there have been some map updates but no one on this board has ever mentioned the presence of any updates for the software that controls how the maps are displayed.

Several/Many others have complained about the street name issue. Among other things.

The 2011 Countryman has a new navigation system; I have not seen it in action so cannot tell if the software is different.

The BMW maps discs can contain system updates. I am not sure about the MINI versions. The dealer can update your entire car which will include the NAV system. It takes many hours for the update to complete.
