which components??

I'm about to replace my entire HK system. I cant decide on what front components I want....

either focal 165 vb http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8377-165...er-system.aspx

or CDT HD-62 http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8436-hd-...onent-set.aspx

another question is...will these speakers fit? whats the deepest I can go without modifying the doors. I've seen some replace the factory HK grills.
I havent heard too much about CDT audio. They must have at one time be associated with cliff design. I've searched on the internet and alot of people complain about cdt's tweeters.

So far Im just trying to plan everything. I want to stay around my budget of $1000.
Here's what I plan to purchase or have purchased already:
HU: Kenwood KDC-BT948HD(not available for another month or so )
Fronts: CDT's or Focal
Rears: CDT 6x9 mid/subwoofer
Amps: Pioneer GM-D9500F 200x2 for the rears
Genesis DM200 for the fronts (had this in the garage....old school. use to push 4 8inch cliff design subs)

thats it..no subs I just want to go for Sound Quality and keep room in my boot. I think the HK system has plenty of bass so with the higher quality speakers and more power it should be better if not more. With the size of my amps Im hoping to put one where the factory amp resides and the other one on the other side. If not I have a Plan "B"

I love my Focal 165 KR2's.
Note you will have to flush mount them and you can not hide them behind the stock grills.

the kr2's are a little out of my price range....but I'm sure they are nice. I noticed they have a 6 3/4" mid with a mounting depth of 2 7/8inches. Which is deeper then the the 3 I'm considering...but the focal 165 vb is also a 6 3/4 mid instead of a 6 1/2"

Here's what I've found out.
Rainbow 62mm
Focal 2 9/16 or 65mm
CDT 2 3/4 or 69mm

Did you ever figure out what to put in the front and will fit..I'm in the same boat...from what I found, it looks like the CDT will require some door grinding to drop as they are 5.87 and allegedly we only have a 5.5 opening...

Don't forget speaker depth also. The OEM (non HK) midbass has a 1.25" plastic mount from the speaker to the door.

You can make a larger speaker fit, you just need the correct baffle.

I thought pretty much everything would drop in 6.5" depth wise w/o issues?? I guess I'll buy some 6501 polks and be done with it...was thinking about squeezing in some CDT's but it may be too much of a hassle for fitment..I know I'd have to drop a bit of the door out to get them to drop in...

I decided on the CDT HD-62's. I ordered them and should get them next week. Speaker depth is key!! If you go with a 6 1/2 you'll still need speaker mounts.
