changing headunit without/ HK

When I'm changing the head unit, should I disconnect the battery first? or can I just do it w/out disconnecting it?

How about fuse?

As long as you aren't cutting out the original HU plug, you should be fine. Just pre-wire your harness adapter ahead of time. Then you can simply unplug the old HU and plug in the new one without disconnecting the battery. It's when you start cutting up the stock harness or the connected adapter (never recommended) that you need to think about disconnecting the battery.

I always make a habit of cutting the power when working with electronics. It is better to be safe rather than sorry.

Cooper S? Batter is in the boot under the carpet. Simply remove one of the leads off of the terminal. Don't close the boot lid until you reconnect the battery.
