Okay, I got the aux jack and parcel shelf and put them in last weekend. Now when I turn my radio on I don't see a aux option. Do I have to have this feature activated by my dealer?

When was your car built? I believe that the Aux Jack doesn't work with the 2002's.

if you have the MFSW, and you price the center button on the right side, as it cycles through modes..

Radio, CD, Aux

does that NOT occur?

you should see it when you hit the mode button a few time. unless you have the H/K cassett option (or any cassett, i forget). i know it will not work with cassetts. look in vendors announcments and find the post classic mini made. also what year is it? some of the early cars form 02 it will not work with. if that is the case i am not sure if the dealer can make that work or not. i am guessing you hooked it up right, it is more that easy and will only go in one place. if none of this is the problem then i guess a trip to the dealer is in order to find out what is wrong. but i should just work. they do not have to code it in. good luck. chad

Frigging mixilsplic! I have a June 02 build, I'm betting it won't frigging work for mine! It has the spot to plug it into the radio so you would think it would work. Crap and double crap!!!

Sadly, the OEM Aux jack kit only works with 10/02 and later builds, i.e '03 models (mine is 10/02). the '02 models have the physical connector but dont have the internal firmware and possibly even the circuitry required to enable the option. The connector (jack) where the Aux kit connects to the radio serves many functions, it's where the Nav audio is routed, as well as a hands-free phone kit would connect (the options available depends on the model year in some cases).

Your best solution would be to either get hold of an '03 headunit (not too difficult seeing that many have upgraded and are looking to unload their old HU) or switching to a Blitzsafe Aux kit (but this will prevent you from using the CD changer if you have one or are thinking about getting one).

Ask your dealer if they would be willing to swap you a later head unit for your existing one; some will do this for a small cost or even free, depending on how involved they are with audio upgrades (and how 'nice' they are as well). Also, ask around here if anyone would be willing to sell or swap a headunit.

Thanks for the link but reading through it sounds like I'll have to give up my cd changer to use it, not to meniton lay out the cost. I think I'm stuck with getting a later head unit to use it with. Anybody got one they want to get rid of???

I have an fm transmitter my self, the iTrip for my Ipod works exceptioanlly well, adn you can change the station to any one on the dial, there are a coupel of transmitters outther and fairly cheap, not the perfect solution, but cheaper than a head unit, well maybe not if you lucky, either way, good luck!

I ordered my '03 on 9.16 w/ a cassette. Since then have installed 6 disc CD changer. Can I use my new iPod via Aux input & parcel shelf from Classic Mini? (As described by Greatbear elsewhere) or am I screwed b/c of build date or cassette choice?

UPDATE: Local dealer says my 10.02 build date is fine and that the cassette shouldn't present any problem. Now that he's said that, if it doesn't work, it will go back to him, so I'm going to try it. I'll let you know.
