Radio Frequency (RF) Modulator Hard Wire Help

Hey all,
I purchased an RF Modulator to hard wire an audio input to my mini via the antennae wire. I have done this on 3 cars previously. It works very well, if you aren't an audiophile. The modulator was $30 from ebay. The problem I am running into is I don't know where antennae wire is. I need to splice into it to have the ability to switch from Ipod to Radio. Can anyone help me out with this issue? Otherwise I might just end up buying a service manual.

Not to ask a dumb question here, why don't you just use the Aux input instead? The antenna (there are three or so) should go into the back of the radio. That will require removing the center cluster assembly.

My Mini doesn't have the ipod hookup. I couldn't find an auxilary input anywhere. I have not yet pulled the radio out though. So are you telling me there is an auxilary input on the back of every Mini radio? What type of input is it? How would you recommend getting my ipod hooked up( without spending $200 for the bmw ipod system)? Thanks for the help.

You should have an Aux in. To activate it, when you press the AUDIO button, there should be three or more options (when you have Sat, iPod, etc.). There should be Tuner, CD, and Aux.

The aux mini (3.5mm stereo) is located in the "cubby" in front of the DSC/Sport button. It is hiding on the top of that compartment underneath the right side window toggle switch.

Also, if you are interested in spending big bucks, you can now add the iPod and Bluetooth to your car (I think it is in the $700 range).

LOL Excellent! I am glad you found it! I started to think maybe they left it out of some (non US spec) cars (as the base radio for the US is not the lowest model available worldwide).
