I have read through all of the threads concerning charging a Nano from the underdash USB port on my 09 and based on what I learned here I bought the Scosche charging adaptor.

I have a brand new Nano Gen5, 8meg, a new Scosche adaptor, and a relatively new Mini.

It all worked well for about a month.

Now, the Mini refuses to charge the Nano. I can charge the Nano using the Scosche adaptor in another car so its not the adaptor.

I can charge my (well, OK, my wife's) old classic 30 meg iPod in the Mini.

When its charged, the Nano works well in the Mini.

It used to charge it (I used it for over a week in the Keys).

But now its quit charging. The Mini did go into the dealer for service at about the same time, but they assure me they didn't touch the sound system (it was in for a water pump issue).

Any ideas?

 

You're sure the cig lighter socket has power? If it is really charging the 30 meg iPod I guess it would have to, but make sure it really was charging. The fuse might have blown on the cig circuit (F42).

Otherwise, the only thing that comes to mind is that the amperage requirement for the Nano may vary with the charge of its battery. Try it with the Nano battery 3/4 charged and see if the MINI will charge it.

Next I would try a different USB car charger. The Griffin PowerJolt, and Belkin Mini USB chargers have worked for my iPhone 3G.
