Both of those speakers should work fine size wise, though the front 6.5's will probably require a bit of modification (mounting rings). You will also want to add an external amp, unless you have an aftermarket deck with built in amplification. If you are going to be using a factory head unit, you'll also need a line converter between the deck and amp.

I'm in the same boat w/ my '06s convertible. Probably going to get the new alpine 305s w/ the bluetooth box & steering wheel control kit. I used to install stereos for a extra money in college, but that was over 20 years ago and things have changed a bit.

Would love some advice on speakers. I'd like to keep everything as stock as possible (no cutting). Will 6.5" speakers fit without cutting the door panels or building custom mounts? Any recommendations on mounting aftermarket tweeters in place of the stock one?

Many thanks!!!

If you do 6.5's up front, it's a high probability that you will need to modify, mounting rings at least. It is also imperative that you watch the mounting depth. You can find several 5.25's that will fit fine, with no mods at all. With the proper speaker and power, you will not need bigger drivers in the doors. 1 inch tweets from most mfg's will work just fine in the factory holes as well.

If you set up your front stage properly, with good sub or mid-bass out back, and a good, clean solid amp, you will not need rear 6x9's. I was all about rear-fill in my install, and experimented with and without the rear's connected, and was happier without the rear fill.

Thanks. Good advice. I'll go with the 5.25's up front.

Now I need to start shopping for some low end for the trunk ;-)

I use an RE Audio SL10 in the back, and have been very pleased with it. Nice little shallow mount, 200w going to it. Honestly, you can find so many nice woofers though, it just depends on how crazy you want to get.
