R57 Tweeter mounting: Is this crazy/stupid?

I got sick of trying to find a tweeter adapter plate and don't have the tools handy to make a custom one, so here's what I did. Thoughts/appropriate, useful ridicule appreciated!

Basically, I used a glue gun to mount the tweeter directly to the center of the old 4" speaker. My impression is that it provides appropriate cushioning and avoids having to make a plate. For the audiophiles out there, I'm guessing that there might be a good reason to mount it against a solid surface. The good news is that I can take the glue off and mount better later if there's a good reason to do so.

Thoughts?

Sorry, I don't think I explained things well. I took off the door panel and disconnected the wiring for the 4" (upper speakers) and installed 6.5" speakers as the lower speakers. I left the 4" upper speakers mounted (albeit disabled) and then glued the tweeters directly onto the speakers themselves. With the door panel on, you can't even tell they're there, they're covered by the door panel mesh. I thought it might be a bad idea, as they're mounted to the unstable 'paper' of the old piece-'o'-cr*p speakers.

I used the OEM Hi-Fi tweeter-grille A-pillar covers. (Which we happen to sell...)

It gives a nice position relative to your ear, and you don't have to worry about the tweeter falling off the paper cone of the OEM Crapola (TM) speaker.

Dan, how did you wire the tweeter? I assume you have a non-hifi system. I'm thinking the easiest way is to tap the X9331, but where did you place the wire?
