Head Unit Reads "Not Connected" - iPod issue

I tried searching this out but didnt find anything. Today my iPod touch, first gen firmware 2.2.1, would be playing and then all of the sudden the last radio station I played came on and the Display area read "Not Connected". Without touching any wires or the iPod I immediatly went to audio -> ipod and the system resumed playing where it dropped off. This happened about 4 more times on the way to work and once on the way home.

Also, I ran a USB extention cable and AUX extention cable into the arm rest and leave my iPod in there all the time.

Loose cable. Anytime the connection is lost this is exactly what will happen.
