Coaxials or Components?

Hey guys, just looking for some advice. I think I have made up my mind on an Alpine Type R 10" sub powered by an Alpine MRP M500 amp. How does that sound? I just can't make up my mind what to do up front. I'm not too much of an audiophile, so I just need something loud and clear. I'm not sure whether to do coaxials or components. If I do coaxials, I was thinking of changing out both the upper and lower in the front, just off the factory unit. If I was going with components, I was thinking of running them off an amp and putting the tweeter in the upper stock speaker location. Obviously the components will cost more because of the bigger amp and mounting the components. I'm just wondering if I'll be satisfied with just sticking coaxials in there off the stock head unit.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I put Component 6.5" in the lower door speaker location, and put its tweeter in the A-pillar. I have the HIFI option. Then put two-way coax 4" in the upper location.

Not sure why you need an amp for the components, but not the coax. Are the power requirements different with Alpine speakers?

If all you want is loud and clear coax will be fine - less expensive in most cases.
If you want to image go for components

No, I just don't know too much about speakers. I thought components were different the coaxials. Not sure what the real difference is. Thanks for the response.

With components, the woofer and tweeter are separate. With coax have the tweeter permanently mounted in the center of the woofer. The word coaxial means that their centers are aligned.

I chose components for the lower speaker because this is where all the bass goes. So, no point in having a tweeter there.

If you don't have the HIFI option with A-pillar tweeters, you can search this forum for threads on how to mount a tweeter in the upper speaker location. Buying one set of component speakers should cost less than two coax. So, 6.5" component speakers with the tweeter to replace the upper door speaker should be the cheapest way to go. If you don't like it, remove the tweeter and get a 4" coax for that location.
