Need help with Basslink 2

here goes.
bought an infinity basslink 2 this weekend and a fosgate 8 gauge wiring kit
removed the rear interior panels (this was before i knew i can gain access to sound from the amp ) and i tapped into the wiring harnesses going in to the rear 6x9's using the molex style speaker wires that came with the sub. i setup the remote line with the proper fuse, i cant recall the number, and ran it to the amp.

my problem is, i am not getting any power to the amp. ive triple checked all connections, there is power coming to the cables, ground is good. ive requested a replacement from sonicelectronix who said it sounds like my problem is with the unit itself (defective).

what id like to ask is, i have the hifi system, would i still be getting a signal by tapping directly in to the 6x9 speaker harness? i know i should have tapped in to the amp or x9331, i know i did more work than necassary, im already frustrated....i just need to know if on the hifi, if tapping in to the 6x9 directly would give me a signal.
If there is anything else you guys can add, or think of thats missing that might be the reason why the amp is not powering on that would help too, im not too happy with getting a replacement and keeping the car gutted until i do.

Yes you will get a signal from connecting to the 6X9 but it may also be overloading the input to the BassLink.

The output at the x9331 connector is about 12v Max and the output from the amp to the 6x9 can exceed 20v.

This may not be good for the BassLink, as the Speaker Level Input is rated for 1V to 16V per the manual that i found online.
