My non-iPod/Nav upgrade

I am in the process of of upgrading the stock system. First change was the exchange of the head unit with a Clatronic DVD player. This unit will allow me to play a DVD on the internal or a external monitor. It has bluetooth which is nice. Picked it up in Germany for around 250. I then put JVC component speakers 6.5" drivers/tweeters in the doors. I listened for awhile and thought, ok. Last week I replaced the stock 6x9s with the pioneer 6x9s. Along with this change I added an amp of sufficient size to power the rears. It has a crossover which I set to taper off at the lower midrange frequencies. This has been the biggest improvement. The clarity of the front speakers is vast. Why I wondered? I think the subtraction of the rears from the HU allowed the front amp to work in an unrestrained zone. The rear is happy with it's own amp. Now comes the addition of a Iomega media player with a 2.5 inch external hard drive. This will allow me to have all of my music at .wav files. It is also the second copy of my music from my CD collection. I was robbed of around 130 CDs and vowed that I would be smarter the next time. No pics yet, but once done, then. Any ideas or suggestions will be helpful.
