Speaker opinions

I've read through the entire speaker replacement thread and some of the other various threads about speakers and I've now narrowed down my options. I know at one point someone was going to mix and match speakers and the consensus was that this was not a problem.

Since the Focals are a bit on the expensive side and hard to find exactly what I want (3 way component) I thought I'd go for a compromise. I was looking at the Polk db6501 components and pairing them with MB Quart RUI210. I'd like to stay with one brand but the specs on the MB Quart 6.5(38Hz-32Khz 87dB) speakers aren't as good as the Polks (35Hz-23Khz 92dB) at the price level I'm looking at. I'd go Polk all the way but they don't make a component 4" and I don't want to deal with the extra tweeter in a coaxial speaker. So I guess my question is do the MB Quarts sound better despite the specs and will mixing and matching the above not give as good a result as just sticking to one brand?

I know it will come up so I'll answer it here, I love JL subs but I've never been impressed with their speakers.

Thanks guys.

I worked in audio a couple of years... manufacturers printed specs. are best taken with a grain of salt. (or better, a dram of single malt )
I have not heard either, so this is FWIW, but I believe the Quarts to be a much better product than Polk. Sticking with one brand for the fronts will be preferable assuming you are keeping the rears OEM...
