Nested folders through USB/iPod interface don't work
I had an iPod Photo that would not supported nested folders/playlists. I read that the new classic 80 and 160 gig iPods do support that capability. So I bought one.
Reason I did this was to attempt to get past the limitation of the slow scrolling inherent in the interface (I have the "USB/iPod convenience package/bluetooth package/whatever you call it" Y-adapter).
If my plan works I will have an "alphabet" navigation through my artists on my iPod similar to what I have for the phonebook on my bluetooth phone interface.
My plan (tedious though it is) was to create folders for each letter of the alphabet (A, B, C, etc), then have a folder for each artist. THEN, have a playlist for each album of that artist nested within.
In other words, three nested folders (first letter of alphabet/artist name/album titles).
The iPod supports it, so I figured the MINI interface would support it.
WRONG! It still only goes one folder deep in the playlists and effectively deletes those other sub-folders and lumps everything in the three nested folders into the one master folder.
So it seems that MINI wrote/had the software written in support of the older models of iPods that did NOT support nested playlists.
Wonder if there's ANY hope of MINI updating the iPod controlling software (a guy can dream, can't he? )
Or do any of you fine folks know a more elegant solution to the problem?
