MP3 CD problem

I burned an MP3 CD of 56k stereo MP3 files (not music -- capacity more important than quality in this case) using iTunes, and they don't play in my MINI... the CD is fine, the files play perfectly from the CD in iTunes.

When I try to play the CD in the MINI, it tries to play each track, then just skips to the next track without playing it.

The same files play okay off a USB thumb drive, but I don't have a high capacity thumb drive, so I'd rather use an MP3 CD.

I'll just go buy a 2GB thumb drive for a couple of bucks if necessary, but I'd like to know what's up.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Is there a minimum bitrate requirement from CD or something?

You didn't say what was on the Cd in the mp3 format. I'm guessing that Mini needs some info, like track title, artist, and/or album before it plays, but I'm not sure. I think 56kbps bitrate is OK though.

Thanks for the reply... they're all fully tagged MP3 files.

But it's basically academic for me now... the Apple store let me swap out my f'd up iPod for a new one, so I can go back to that.

Thanks again!

I am just beginning to figure this out.

I listen to a study course that has tracks about 1 hour long.
After an hour or so sitting, the CD player in the car resets
to the beginning. It is very annoying.
I fixed that with this:
www.goldwave.com
By having the software automatically slice the file into
10 min increments (it renames file extensions automatically).

Those are not special MP3 files.

I have another study course each track is about 12 minutes.
I learned to make this work in the car you have to run a feature
on your windows called "Make Compatible". It is under format disk
on the menu.

I just got an ipod, and it searched my computer and found all
my mp3 files and added them to itunes. I have not yet tried
to make a disk from itunes.

I'm going to look at it in depth comming up. For the near future
I'm going to continue to just use the copy files method onto CD.

This might not help you out but I'm hoping it helps out somebody
that has gone through the similar thing that I have.

Strange... the only time I've had a problem like that is with DRM'd files or something outside of the MP3 format. Just looking quickly through my collection, I think my lowest bitrate files are the CarTalk podcasts: Mono 64kbps MP3s, and they all work when burned to an MP3 CD.

I wonder if something happens to the files from iTunes to burning that makes them different than they'd be on the USB drive? I guess it's possible for the USB port to have a wider range of compatability, but it seems strange.

I had the same problem with my podcasts- one thing that's worked for me is pressing the volume **** in before turning the car off (which should either mute or turn off the stereo, depending on who you ask

Press it again when getting back in the car and it starts off right where I left off, even a couple days later.
