iPod question

Hi everyone!

I know it already had been discussed many many times.

I bought 2 years ago the Ipod interface directly from BMW.

I installed it myself, it was pretty easy.

There is 2 major inconvenient with it. First there is no text display on the head unit. Second there is, on the back ground, a kind of distortion noise when the volume is loud.

If I install the DICE interface do those problems will be gone?

Can I install the Bluetooth phone interface from BMW if I have the DICE Ipod interface (I always thought that I can’t because the hand free phone interface and the Ipod interface from BMW take the same connector behind the factory radio)?

Does the DICE system is as easy to install as the BMW Ipod interface?

Thanks!

Assuming your MINI was built after Jan 05 it should display text on the head unit. I am not sure about the DICE, but I have installed the Dension Ice-Link and its supposed to be an improvement on that. http://www.murmini.com/articles/2006...alling-an-ipod

DICE is much easier to install. This is the kit you need:

DICE - SILVERLINE iPod Integration Kit for MINI Cooper (Radio Interface)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1639

The DICE iPod Kit will integrate perfectly with your MINI and offer steering wheel control as well as ID3 text * and charging of your iPod. Full CD Quality can be expected after installation. There's even an integrated AUX port for other devices.

New features of DICE SILVERLINE iPod Integration kit include:

- Direct integrated connection, without the need for FM transmitters or cassette adapters
- Full Text Display on your factory radio *
- Full control of your iPod via the radio buttons while in play
- Browse by Individual Song
- Browse by Individual Playlist
- Browse by Individual Albums
- Source Selector w/ Integrated AUX input
- Album Selection
- Full charging mode for iPods through included dock connector

The kit will come with everything needed w/ the docking cable. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls.

Text is available on 2/2005+ manufactured MINIs. Let me know if you have any further questions.
