Need New Amp, now, preferably!!

Hi,
I believe after reading the threads that my amp has gone out on my h/k system. I have all the classic symptoms...popping and snapping in my speakers, my headunit comes on, but no sound. If anybody out there doesn't think it's my amp, can you please give me some ideas on what to check? Husband already checked all the fuses and they're good, unless there's a fuse in the headunit we don't know about. We don't have warranty because it was bought used (one owner lease return is what Iw as told). I've had to go almost 2 weeks without sound and I can't take it anymore. Please help!! I can't change out the system, and I really don't want to. I'd like to keep it as original as I can. I like the h/k system. Thanks so much! I have a 2004 MINI S, electric blue.

Used or new, it shouldn't matter. If your MINI has less than 50,000 miles and was manufactured less than 4 years ago, you should have full warranty coverage.

I don't know if your 2004 could have been delivered to the first owner earlier than December 2003, but if you look in the driver's side doorjamb, you'll find the month/year the car was built, so the initial delivery date (which is when the warranty clock started) would have been sometime after that date.

When my amp failed, I found several available used for under $150. It is worth the trouble to find one used, as new ones run about $500, and there is no other amp that can be substituted for the HK.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. When I bought my MINI, it had a little over 49,000 miles on it. It now has a little over 50,000 miles on it. I don't know where it was delivered to, and all I got with it when I bought it was the owner's manuals. I'll be checking the driver's side door to see when it was delivered, though. I'm still looking on Ebay and bidding on amps. I'm just hoping I'll quit getting outbid on them! If you all think of anything else that will help me with my MINI, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks!
