It might be helpfull to post the cost of the "fix". Lets see:

$2,100 for the BROKEN Mini Navigation system

$200 for the WORKING Garmin Navigation system to augment, the broken OEM one.

 

It's closer to $500 plus the mounts. The GPS is a 76CSx, bought for about $400 and I had to buy City Nav software, another $140 or so. The Garmin part of the mount is $30ish I think. The rest is a demo...cup holder mount I am testing.

On an updated OS from MINI, or an updated PMN software patch that hanldes the R56 dvd Nav disc properly.

Preferrably the MINI OS update is released first!!

 

Why are you asking us? You were the ones with all the dealer and lawyer contacts. BMW usually released an update about once a quarter for the MK3/4 but I have no idea what they are going to do for your system. I think that the MK4 updates are done. The last one V30 did nothing for the MK3 and 4 systems.

Suprised no updates yet. I'm on my 3rd defective DL (dual layer) DVD burner in my laptop. Can't seem to get a good one installed, so I can test the PMN software to fix this problem which MINI has yet to fix.

 

Just got back from Germany again. No chance to get any info from BMW unfortunately.

Anyone get the PMN software working yet?

 

Navtech doesn't list any update for any Mini's after 06.

 

Been using PMN for a while now with no problems. I use it to create the DVD for speed cameras here in Germany. It does have the ability to export POI data as well. So, what are you looking for someone to tell you? If you want to fix a disk, get the software and do it yourself. Nobody is going to do it for you.

 

It (the PMN software) is not working on the 07 Nav disk as reported earlier in the thread by "OfficeMaven". I have been traveling alot lately (jut back from Germany again) and haven't had a chance to try it out myself since upgrading all my DVD players to a DL (Dual layer) drive so we can save all the data twice to FIX the problem MINI sold us.

And, trust me when I tell you. MINI/BMW WILL fix this problem, NOT me!!! Come hell or high water, it will be FIXED.

My car has been up getting a few things done at the dealer so I dropped the question on my SA about the POI problem. They checked with Mini and there is no fix (or any update) as of today for the Nav system.

 

Updates??? Anyone try the Pimp-my-nav software on the Gen 2 Nav and get it to work yet????

Nope, haven't seen him. Your German is very good by the way. Sorry that I didn't respond, but I have been extremely busy lately.

That being said, I have not seen any update information on the MK4 and I think that we are done for the most part. Most of the new BMW's have moved to the newer system. So, good luck getting your problem resolved.

 

I hate the new NAV system.. and I have a quick question for the long time users "How can I display just a MAP w/o having "to go" somewhere? " In my '05 and '08 Conv the map is still showing w/o having to set a destination with the new NAV I cannot.. plus where is the British voice ? I hate it more than I hate my Pioneer -

 

Use the voice command "Map Direction of Travel".

 

Or just use the joystick, and click on either "Map Direction of Travel" or the other option "Perspective view". These options are below the destinations, just click the joystick down once when on the Nav menu at the top of the screen (when you see you last few destinations listed). That will jump over the destinations to the map views down below at the bottom of the screen. Very easy.

Or like the previous poster, just press the speak button and say: "Map direction of travel" OR just say "Perspective". And you will be in Map view with no destination.

BUT, whatever you do, DON'T try and search for a POI (Point of Interest)!!! You'll NEVER find it because the system has a HUGE bug in it. We are still waiting for MINI to fix it.
