What phone have you successfully paired with MINI Bluetooth?

I would like for this thread to be a survey for those of us considering a new phone to use with their Mini Bluetooth systems. No arguments of this phone vs that one please - just tell us your phone & model if you are syncing successfully with your Bluetooth module.
thanks,
Pat

blackberry pearl seems to synch really well with the bluetooth from my experience and the razr as well.

What matters more than the model of the phone is the software that is in the phone.

Those two phones work the best from my experience of delivering cars with the bluetooth system.

I can post the phones that have been tested by mini and their software version if you would like to see that. There arent very many on the list, but those are the phones that are going to work the best according to MINI because they have been tested in the R56 with our programing!

KEEP IT MINI!

Verizon RAZR V3 works perfectly, and is on the mysterious "Mini Approved" list.

Palm Treo 755p works, but blows up the Bluetooth module from constant phone book uploads.

Nokia 6103 synched successfully
Nokia 6133 synched unsuccessfully
Blackberry 7520 synched successfully
Siemens SK65 synched successfully

Anyone sync'd a Verizon Motorola Q?

hazmat 09-09-2007 03:40 PM

Anybody sync a Blackberry 8700? Any issues?

It appears to on the approved list but I've been wondering if I should do anything to my address book in advance. I haven't used filters to any great extent and thought there might be a reason to avoid syncing ALL the contacts in my database. Might give my something to do before my car shows up at the dealer.

My cel phone use is extremely light, but I have received and made calls with a Verizon Samsung SCH-A950.

I have not used a phonebook in the phone nor in the MCS.

I have the NAV.

MrVvrroomm 09-09-2007 07:09 PM

My wife's Verizon RAZR V3m and my MOTOKRZR K1m both work just wonderfully on her Mini's bluetooth.

artsmini 09-09-2007 08:50 PM

RAZR V3xx and Motorola SLVR, both on AT&T (Cingular)

STLMINI 09-09-2007 08:55 PM

the iPhone works.

Based on this, it might be interesting to know how long each person has been using their bluetooth. Assuming Coffeeman's problem is not a unique one, 1 month of usage might not indicate a given phone won't "blow up" the bluetooth module 6 months from now.

I have been using a Sprint Samsung M300 for a month without any problems. If it blowes up the BT Mod I will report back.

Blackberry 8100, since April, no problems, but I only pair it 10% of the time.

SDMike 09-12-2007 11:29 AM

I was using a VX6700 Win Mobile PPC, but it was intermittent at best with regards to connectivity. Phonebook synched fine, but more often than not after 5 mins of being in the car it would lose the BT connection.

Tried the 6700 again with the WM6 update, same thing, same issues. Powersave features were set to never turn off.

Recently swapped with the kids LG "Chocolate" and have 100% success with pairing etc. I'm using this until I figure out what phone I want to try next.

Thinking about the Razr Maxx or Razr 2

oneway 09-12-2007 11:40 AM

UT Starcom 6700 works fine as long as you don't have itset to any type of powersave (it tries to shut bluetooth down if you don't touch the phone for awhile), not the best but it does work.

urbanhippie 09-12-2007 11:56 AM

Motorola Razr V50, no problems at all. :)

juanjob 09-12-2007 02:30 PM

T-Mobile Dash.

No problems so far (for approx. 3 weeks).

I have the Treo 750. Same problems as SDMike

Birdman 09-18-2007 09:13 AM

The Samsung Blackjack running Windows Mobile 5, works but does not sync the address book. HOWEVEr, I just upgraded to a new "pilot" version, Windows Mobile 6 which will be released in a few weeks to everyone, works perfect. The address book syncs right up.

So, in summary, the BlackJack (Samsung SGH-i607) works with the 07 mini.

daveag98 09-20-2007 10:29 AM

Moto Krzr not issues works fine, audio quailty a little poor and i have to talk loud.

gr8images 09-20-2007 10:44 AM

Treo 650 works ok, but you cannot dial with the system only phone. Sometimes the speakers do not output the voice, but you can just dial again and get it.

I used to have a problem where I could set up the pair with my Motorola Q, but then it would not re-pair up after I shut off the car and turned the car back on.

Turns out at the same time, my Voice Recognition Button didn't work. Once the dealer fixed that my Motorola Q paired perfectly. Phone worked great, address book worked great.

Then a week later I got the Verizon Motorola Q9M, thinking, it's not a major upgrade. Well, phone still pairs, but I get no address book.

jrammon 09-20-2007 01:34 PM

BludyL,
Thanks for the information regarding the Q. I still have the original Q and was considering moving to the Q9M. I guess I will wait on that.

I had not tried pairing because I did not want to mess up my contacts. Time to pair away!

Samsung SGH-D900 Not working

My Samsung SGH-D900 will connect every time I start the car, but once I make or receive a call it will only work for a few minutes (never more than 5) before it drops. Once it drops it will not reconnect until the car has been turned off and then back on. This makes me very sad. I have not contacted my dealer yet concerning this, but I really hope that they can fix it!

alalo 09-21-2007 05:10 PM

I've been using a SonyEricsson w810 since April, and it has worked flawlessly. I also paired the phone with a demo car at the dealership before I ordered mine, just to check if it worked ok

Verizon LG VX5300 works fine so far.

Motorola Q issue

I had the problem with pairing on my Q until I figured out the quirk. In order to recognize the phone without going through a pairing. I enable my BT on the Q then try and use the BT on my R56, it fails to repsond but establishes connectivity from that point forward. It isn't like my Acura as it auto recognizes the phone when you install the key into the ignition, but hey the MCS is much more phone to drive.

Somewhere on here is a procedure to check, and move, the bluetooth mic if need be. Some cars have the mic installed on the passenger side of the car, which can make a big difference since it's a directional mic. Oops.

Not sure exactly where to find it, but it's on here somewhere. Not too technical nor difficult. Mine was on the correct side, but I was ready to move it.

I just synched up the SonyEricsson W580i to my 2007 MINI Cooper S w/ Navigation. So far, everything works great including the address book. Very easy setup. By the way, I like the phone, too.

Here's a review of the phone:

Do yourselves a favor, go out and get the Samsung Blackjack. It is the best phone made today (strongest cell service signal), has TONS of features, and best of all, the new version of OS (WM6) works 100% with the Mini.

TheOfficeMaven 10-03-2007 11:30 AM

Just paired a bunch of Sony Ericsson phones with the Bluetooth in our new R56 MINI and they all worked great (including the address book sync and voice recognition of address book names). Here's the ones I tried:

K750i
W800i
W810a
M600i (UIQ3)
W950i (UIQ3)

The coolest thing is that the MINI's Bluetooth kit allows you to prioritize the phones you've synced with it. It will attempt to connect to the phone that is highest on the priority list first and then move on down the list until it finds a phone to connect with. We have the nav system in our MINI and so all of this is done via the onboard monitor.

I went out and got an iPhone 2 weeks ago on the recommendation of some of you here in this thread and others. Two days ago I received my Mini (Yeah!) and the two work together quite nicely. You do need to update to the latest firmware version (1.1.1) for the iPhone though in order to see your address book names in the Mini's address book.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
