Muting Nav voice completely?

Is this possible? I just swapped in a Wave cassette head unit for the CD one, and now when Nav is running, it mutes the music but no voice is heard because the Cassette unit does not support Aux in. This is fine with me, but I wonder if I can get it to not mute the music at all.

On the boost...

the nav audio input is a mono input that is separate from the aux in. I think the fact that the nav is speaking may be coming to the head unit via the iBus interface... Then you could drop the iBus wires from the harness, and the head unit wouldn't know squat about what's going on in the rest of the car. Don't know if that would have other repurcussions. But there's a non-destructive test.... You can take apart the wiring harness connector to remove individual pins. Find the iBus ones, and drop the pin (one or two, don't remember). See if it works and if you don't get the nav drop off.

Also, one of the british vendors that sells tons of Mini stuff makes a blue-tooth integration harness that you could plug the nav audio into. It switches the audio source completely, but will play whatever it switches through the factory speakers.

Matt

ps you would loose the speed sensitive volume changes if you drop the bus lines.

This may stound really stupid if I don't understand you question properly, but, there is also an option in the mini nav, to turn off the voice guidance. Just put the joystick over the icon on top right that looks like a speaker, press down and a big X will go over the speaker (turning voice guidance off). That would work.
