MP3 player works fine with aux jack, SIRIUS not so much

i just recently installed the aftermarket aux jack . when i plug my mp3 player in there it works perfect. however, when i hook up the line to the line out of the sirius radio dock the aux display disappears and it stops working all together. when i hook the mp3 player up again all i have to do is hit the mode button a couple of times and it starts working instantly. i don't get it? is it because the sirius dock has an fm transmitter built into it?

Is your MP3 powered by its battery but the Sirius is powered by your car (e.g. cigarette lighter)? If so, the power connection is probably creating ground loop noise that is confusing the stereo. It can be corrected by using a ground loop isolator like this. Do a forum search on "ground loop isolator" for more information.

thanks for the response. i hope that works. why the hell would they even bother putting the line out of the sirius dock if you only have to buy this groung loop isolator. very stupid

I actually spliced a ground loop isolator between the head unit and the aux jack myself to keep it clean and to avoid this issue.
