External Mic postion on Tomtom

Bought a tomtom 910 and having it hard wired to the lighter or electrical source. Plan is to have the external mic that cam with it run and mounted. Question can it be mounted where the factory mic position is in the console on the roof? Is that a wise position for it? If not, what is the most amicable position for it for clearity?

Obviously it needs to be as close as possible, but hoping for some experienced users to chime in with an optimum location.
Thanks

I mounted mine on the driver's side sun visor. Ran the wire up the A-pillar and tucked the excess into the headliner. Sound quality is quite good - or so they tell me.

External Mic postion on Tomtom-0812071216.jpgI velcroed the mic next to the tachometer. Worked out nice. The clarity is as good as it gets. It is pretty much directly in front of your face.
